Stir Fry Chinese Broccoli WITHOUT Oyster Sauce | Gluten Free, Vegan, No MSG, Oil Free Option
In this episode of “RECIPES FOR MY DAUGHTER”, I am making stir fry Chinese broccoli, or gai lan, without using oyster sauce.
Stir frying is a common way of preparing greens in Chinese cuisine. However, stir frying greens traditionally uses a lot of oil, and stir fry Chinese broccoli or gai lan commonly uses oyster sauce.
I do not use oyster sauce in my cooking currently, including vegetarian or gluten free oyster sauce, because any kind of store bought oyster sauce (currently sold on the market) still contains MSG, additives, flavouring, colouring, and preservative.
To make this stir fry clean-eating friendly, I only season the dish with salt, pepper, and a tiny bit of brown sugar, which is optional. I also make it with less oil than traditional stir frys.
The key to making vegetable stir fry that still tastes delicious without using oyster sauce or MSG, in my opinion, is a pan or wok that’s been heated to just the right level of heat.
